Road to Euro 2020
They topped Group H by two points and only lost once in ten games. Job done.
However, they were pushed all the way by Turkey who finished two points behind in second to book their place at Euro 2020. Iceland, Albania, Andorra and Moldova completed the group which saw Olivier Giroud finish as top scorer with six goals in the campaign, once again proving his often doubted credentials as one of the world's top centre forwards.
But, when it comes to drawing the groups, the teams are allocated into pots according to their qualifying performances, and France ended up performing comparatively worse than six other teams meaning they were placed in Pot 2. As a result, this means France could draw one of Spain, Italy, England, or Germany to make for a tasty group.
France will be appearing at their 13th successive final tournament; they haven't missed out since the 1994 World Cup, and have reached five finals in that run, winning three of them. Didier Deschamps captained Les Bleus to victory at the 1998 World Cup and EURO 2000. France boss since 2012, he led them to World Cup glory in 2018 and can secure the second international double of his career at Euro 2020.
